So I've got most of five out of seven of my planned Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog stamps created and uploaded. Unfortunately, my copy of the DVD has gone missing (I think my roommate may have loaned it to one of her friends in an attempt to Bring Awesomeness To One Of The Unenlightened) , so I've been working off of liner notes and my somewhat unreliable memory. Looking over my available material, I could mayyybe come up with two or three more stamps after the seventh one (depends on whether or not I can properly remember one of Moist's lines).
This is my question for all of you who actually bother to care: I also have a copy of the liner notes for the DVD -exclusive bonus feature content of Commentary! The Musical. But because it's bonus feature content from the DVD, and therefore something that not everyone is familiar with, I'm unsure as to whether or not to make stamps based on this material. Basically, I adore Commentary! The Musical, where the cast and crew melodically makes fun of the movie, themselves, each other, DVD bonus features, and showbiz (though not in that exact order), but I feel wrong about going all "Spoiler Alerts be damned!" and making stamps of something where not everyone would get the references. I figured I should turn to you guys to solve my uncertainty.
Should I make stamps based on Commentary! The Musical from Dr. Horrible's Sing -Along Blog?
~~UPDATE~~
And so the holidays are here! Whichever one you celebrate, here's to hoping you have a happy one. As for me, the Christmas tradition of "$20 and a gag gift to the person whose name you drew out of the hat" is alive and well at Grandma's house. I'm looking forward to it. Then today I thought, "Why not put the Dr. Horrible stamps on hold real quick and make a holiday-type stamp or two as a gift for you guys?" Of course, being me, it's not going to be all snowflakes and gingerbread men...
I live in Kansas, and I distinctly remember back in late August/early September this one time when my family and I had been digging through our old collection of VHS tapes looking for something to watch and we found A Christmas Story. We could actually remember the last time we watched it, but we felt like we could use some of those old-fashioned warm and fuzzy feelgood vibes, and so we watched it. And afterwards, we joked about how awesome it would be if there was an opera version of A Christmas Story. We even tried our hand at thinking up and belting out a few lines from some possible songs (and made ourselves laugh so hard we cried, too).
Skip ahead to November... when I read in the paper that Kansas City is doing A Christmas Story: The Musical. And they've even got the leg lamp as part of a Busby-Berkley style number. HOLY CRAP. Needless to say, I was stunned. (I didn't go to see the show, by the way. Not because of some fear that someone in the family had developed psychic powers, but because KC is a long ways away from where we live and we couldn't afford tickets AND gas AND any et ceteras. Plus gossip travels fast in small towns, meaning nobody in town was willing to dogsit for my stupid genius dog.)
But anyway, when I was wondering what sort of holidayish stamps I could make for DA, A Christmas Story was the first thing that came to mind. And the first thing that came to my mind there was the leg lamp. Enjoy, and happy holidays.
